Session 4: Harnessing your Talents and Skills in the Era of Coronavirus

Most of the individuals I met at seminars and presentations admit that, generally, they do not make use of their talents while at home or at work. Actually, talents are often repressed or forgotten as they don’t fit their job description. As a consequence, we spend hundreds or thousands of hours learning competencies that are unrelated to our talents, so that they can fit in specific roles and help us perform a number of required tasks. This model does not work any longer as it does not take into account the natural gifts and abilities everyone possesses. Positive organizations, including happy families, are committed to linking the individual and team experience with the talents of every member and, in doing so, they strengthen their passion, enthusiasm, and resilience. This workout involves custom tailoring individual competencies around the individual’s talents to make sure that they are aligned toward the community’s mission and purpose. As new competencies feed each member’s natural gifts, the community is in a better position to formulate and implement projects aimed at the collective wellbeing.

Session 5: Exploring your Beliefs in the Era of Coronavirus

Beliefs make up our brain software. Science has determined that we think in between 50,000 to 80,000 thoughts a day and 70% of them is unsupportive. Thoughts come from beliefs. While it is impossible to be aware and manage each thought, beliefs can be changed, and when we do so, hundreds or thousands of thoughts change with them. Beliefs act as brain filters and allow people to make sense of the world around them. Because the majority of thoughts (and beliefs) is negative, this inevitably affects the performance and overall wellbeing of individuals and their communities. As we are literally bombarded by “bad” and “scary” news, we have the power to decide what to believe and the filters we use to make sense of what is happening to us. When we are mindful of our believes and make deliberate choices to use brain filters that will help us and the world, we build resilience. This workout focuses on surfacing unsupportive, self-defeating beliefs and, through a simple and effective format, change them into supportive ones. When the individual workout is coupled with a collective commitment toward that effort, results are faster, more effective, and contagious.
