For some people, food is happiness, the science explains why.

Nervousness, weakness, bad mood and anxiety for chocolate answer a chemical phenomenon that occurs in the body due to a decrease of serotonin. This substance is also known as the hormone of happiness because in high levels it produces a feeling of satisfaction and general wellness.

Some foods are rich in this substance; the intake regulates serotonin levels and provides an immediate wellness.

We list some foods rich in serotonin and its benefits. Just choose your favorite and be happy just with a morsel.

1 Nuts: are rich in nutrients and lower cholesterol. They are also rich in magnesium, so they have a stress relief effect, help reduce anxiety and improve sleep.

A good idea is to eat them as a snack. A bunch of walnuts, hazelnuts, almonds or raisins can help to recover energy and to overcome migraines.

2 Fruits: This delicious food is perfect for the summer and can help us with our mood.

Bananas, pineapple, avocado and plums contain tryptophan that is a precursor to serotonin. Orange and kiwi are full of vitamin C that boosts the immune system in stress episodes.

Fruits provide us energy and happiness for all day long. Taking them on the breakfast is a good idea. An added benefit, when you consume fiber-rich foods, is that they help you manage your weight.

3 Whole grains: They have vitamin B6 involved in the synthesis of serotonin. Whole grains are rich in vitamin E and various minerals. Remember to add in your shopping list: whole wheat, brown rice and quinoa.

4 Proteins: egg yolk, chicken, tuna, salmon and sardines have high Omega 3 and tryptophan content. By including them in your daily diet you decrease stress and increase happiness.

5 Chocolate: contains tryptophan that is a precursor to serotonin that neutralizes nervousness, weakness, bad mood and anxiety.

Did you need an excuse to eat chocolate? You already have it. Just try to choose the darker and sugarless one.

Stay in a good mood can be delicious and amazingly healthy for our body and mind. If we combine these foods with exercise and meditation we will reach happiness.
